question about gauges (67.5 vs others)

Are the gauges from a 1967.5 unique to that year, or are some/all of them 'the same' as other early cars?

The oil/temp & fuel/ammeter are half year only. I don’t know about the clock, tach & Speedo, they might be the same as 67 units.

Major difference (other than the combined gauges Pat mentioned) between '67.5 and earlier cars is the black vs chrome bezels. Then there is the speed and tach markings (8krpm and 160mph speedo on 2000). I think the needle faces are different, silver vs chrome vs black. As far as mechanicals I would consult with Jon Frampton.

There are lots of pictures of both routes. IMHO, restored gauges from Jon Frampton are the way to go, especially for modern powerplants.

There are certainly many reasons why one might chose aftermarket gauges, but I absolutely love the look of the stock gauges, especially when restored to the level that Jon does. I can't say that my old and very well used speedo reports anything but a general "range" of speed that I am traveling anymore ("Well officer, I was traveling somewhere between 70 and 90 depending on what I estimate to be accurate and not bounce."), so obtaining good working or repairable examples may be something to consider.

I see now that you're engine swapped, so I gather it would be Jon for the stock look as Alvin said... they are beautiful, no?

100%, yes. I think I'm going to see about sourcing them. What do folks do about the the other pieces? I think I have the three switches covered. Are there reproductions for the turn signals?

Keep in mind that you don't need NOS or pristine gauges to begin with if they are going to be re-done by Jon Frampton. For tach/speedo I'm certain it doesn't matter as a core since the faces will be re-screened. For example, it's going to be difficult/expensive to find a 160mph speedo to start with....you are fine using the 120mph version and having Jon make it 160mph (or whatever you want!)

Very cool! I would consult with Kevin Desirello and Michael Anderson (RCMike) as they have successfully run/proven the NA VVL setup with great results.

ps you might notice that myself (and many other SR-powered roadsters) run the Classic Instruments gauges...these are clearly easier to install than modifying stock gauges to work. IHMO noting beats the stock gauges...it's on my wishlist and something I would have done if had known about Frampton back in 2001

Can Jon F or anyone else able to convert a mph speedometer to kph? I moved my '69 to Germany...and TÃœV (the local "inspection authority", you'd have to be here to understand) is making a fuss.

Or you could see if you can get the whole guage from Japan, as they were in kph. Nothing on Yahoo auctions at the mo, as I just looked for you.

I would think Jon F could re-screen print into kph, he re-done my fuel gauge into a larger capacity (when at Full) for me.
