Hi folks,
Today I finally got a chance to drive the '68 2000 that I picked up from BaT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1968- ... adster-30/
I was born in '68 and always wanted a car from the year I was born. During a web conference with an understanding customer, I 'accidentally' won the auction on this '68.
Today work finally cooled off enough that I was able to take her out for a quick trip to Sonic. The brakes need help, but otherwise, the car seems pretty nice.
I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with the car. So far the plan is to drive it around a bit in town. Maybe when I retire I'll try to take it apart and turn it into something special, but right now it's just a driver...
A bit of an introduction:
Both my wife and I are into cars and driving. We both instruct at HPDEs and I race, currently in an '02 Boxter S in WRL.
She's got a '21 Porsche GT4 as her daily driver/track car and a '68 Mercedes 560 SL (another car I accidentally won on BaT).
I've got an '02 BMW 540 (yep, another BaT car), an '08 Radical SR3 (ummm... yep. Got it on BaT).
I also have an '00 Ford F350 (with the 7.3L Diesel, with only 204K miles on it) that we use to pull our trailer to races and HPDEs.
I'm looking forward to connecting with folks here and seeing what this little car can become.

Welcome, Rich! Sounds like you have the bug.
There are a few roadster folks around Austin, with more in DFW, Houston & San Antonio. I’m located just south of Austin near Lockhart.
I have a 67.5 1600 that I am doing a frame off on. I’m waiting for engine work now & hope to be on the road in a couple months.
Peace,
Pat

Looks like a very nice “driver†and you got it at the right time of year for Texas driving. It looks like you have some fun track cars, the Datsun will be a much different experience. There are no driver aids or surplus power to mask ability, just the smiles you’ll get for getting it right.
Welcome to the group, it’s a great one!

@datsun65 How was the NISMO Fiesta? I wasn't able to make it, I was racing in WRL over the weekend up at Hallet. We podiumed with a 3rd place finish in GP2 in our Boxter S although we were plagued with car issues, so we mostly got there on laps driven.

Nismo Fiesta was good, but was a "Lite" version this year due to COVID.
I ended up bringing my Nissan Figaro this year (AC).
