Thanks, guys. Both of those replies made me laugh.

I'm making lemonade and using this as an excuse to buy the new 1 5/8" header that is specifically made for strokers moving lots of air. It wasn't available at the time I bought the regular 1.5". I will lovingly break it in by slowly upping the heat cycle times. Guess I'm now selling a practically new, but not as beautiful as it should be, 1.5" header.

Well , what are you are you asking for the pipes ? Who knows, they’d be tge neatest thing on my car! Beside the electronic dizzy I have to install.

Is you header have the standard collector and the same dimensions to fit the standard header down tube or does tge whole system need to be replaced ?

The header doesn't bolt up directly to the stock exhaust. It includes a collector that needs to be welded to the exhaust pipe. You can see details and pictures of it here:

I imagine that the shipping cost would be expensive, so I'll probably just try to sell it locally and see if I get any takers.

I don't know the manufacturer, but I would be shocked if they were from across the pacific...

Don't know. Just imagine it might be hard to find a manufacture to make a short run of a part.

Just speculating.
But having owned a number of Volvos, its like buying "OEM Volvo part" which harkens back the days of "Cracker Jacks" as to the origin of the parts. the surprise is the parts are good quality - and they FIT!!

Made some more progress the last few days. Got a stainless flange, flex tube and some 2.25 pipe. Measured and test fit ad nauseum, and then finally TIG welded it all together. More test fitting, then added a stainless mount. Had it all polished to a satin finish and installed it along with header. Turned out pretty sweet.



If anyone is in the SF Bay Area and needs metal polished, give Ken Clement a call at 510-917-0003. He is in Oakland, is a great guy, and likes working with cool hot rod parts in between all the industrial polishing he does all day. He also did my valve and timing covers to perfection.

Boy that’s a close fit. How did you get a wrench in there to tighten the collector ??

It's not quite as tight as it looks from this angle, but it definitely requires two crescent wrenches and some patience. No way a ratchet & socket are fitting in there. Removing the starter made access much easier.

Man, that is sooo sweet! Welds look great, too. I will be hitting you up for more pics when I get to my exhaust.

I don't think it right that you describe the polishing of the valve and timing cover, and then don't show pics.
Isn't that like leaving the centerfold out of a Playboy? (Old school reference I know).
