Where’s Waldo err Linda?

What’s happened to Linda, one of our most prolific posters? Seems to just dropped off the face of the earth. Has she run off to Washington to live with Ted and now not have time to post due to spending all day every day driving around him? She always had a good outlook on things and was quite knowledgeable about roadsters.

She was in the middle of a Covid thread on the Off Topics Board late last year. The thread went South due to some Chowder head whom I believe was banned. The Mods had to get involved and I don't think Linda was thrilled with how it was handled. Hasn't posted once since AFAIK

Such a shame that one jerk can offend someone like Linda so much, and make her not want to participate any longer.

I agree with everything you guys said, she has always been such an asset and a positive part of this forum. I have heard she's doing fine, and let's hope that she can get back to enjoying sharing her knowledge with dummies like me! But whatever her choice, I respect it.

YES, I can confirm that my girlfriend Linda is with me here in the PNW and is a constant companion on my roadster drives.

Well, maybe some or none of that is true,
BUT we do not have a properly monitored forum without our 311s DEN Mother.
Linda, come back!. We miss you. We need you.

The Board has a “Absolutely Nothing to Do with Datsun Roadsters” where you can post about food, hobbies etc. per the description. So that is a lie then? No topics except Datsun Roadsters? I think if you don’t like a thread in its non Datsun section, you should not read it. Somebody is reading it because it has 4043 hits....
.Maybe people can make up their own mind if it is too “ political”? Maybe they are, since they are returning?
Maybe a big warning: Attention! Non Datsun related content! Proceed at your own risk! .......
Or delete ALL the non Datsun content so that no one gets misled by the site descriptions.
All Datsuns, all the time, no exceptions, especially for Covid. We don’t care. OK , got it. Fine, I need to learn more about Datsuns than Covid, so works for me.

Allow me to reflect on this, and pose 2 questions. I suggested removing the "Absolutely Nothing to Do with Datsun Roadsters" section to make the admin's life easier. IMHO, it just made sense to keep things simple, and roadster-related.

So, without running a poll (and to satisfy my curiosity)

Moderators: has removing the “Absolutely Nothing to Do with Datsun Roadsters" section benefitted the forum and/or your admin roles?

Forum members: do we need to re-instate the "Absolutely Nothing to Do with Datsun Roadsters" section to appease the need for "public health outreach" and "food, hobbies, current events, politics, etc"?

Let me be the first to reply, as someone who has pissed of vendors, members, and moderators. There is a place for political discourse, as long as you take it with a grain of salt. I've spent well over a hundred hours working along side of the person who got into it with Linda last year, and I let him know what an ass he was. If he didn't opt out, he would have been banned anyway. Politics is a dangerous road to travel, conversation wise, and with the lack of inflection via typing, even more so. That gentleman, Chris, also almost completely dismantled a 68 roadster, and put it back together, with our help. He did that deed so his ailing father could have a few more drives while he has any memory left. Chris and I agreed to not discuss politics, as he is very opiniated. Works well for both of us. I was there when his Dad saw the car for the first time in many moons, and it was worth it. I'd like an anything goes thread,just know going in, what you might be in for. Pat

I'd also like it if the vendors would keep their mouths shut, regarding their competitors' products. Let your products and service speak for themselves, and stop being whiny little b.....s. No offence meant to those of the fairer sex. Can we have a rule on 'vendor bashing'? Pat

I respect and thank you for your feedback. In a perfect world, the "Absolutely Nothing to Do with Datsun Roadsters” would need no moderation, right? The reality is that it eventually will, and it is up to a few moderators (who work on a volunteer basis) to monitor things. They can easily say "F this I'm out!" and then it falls on the shoulders of 311s.org founder Steve. My fear (tell me if I'm overthinking this) is that he can do just the same and throw in the towel.

So, while we all have good intentions with non-roadster related discussion...my feeling is that will always end up with a moderator stressing out about it. I will stop speaking for them now
