Correct, the oil pump drive is not offset, so there is no 180 degree issue. Another possibility is you distributor mechanical advance is broken and operating at max advance for all rpms. That can happen if a spring breaks etc. Seen that plenty of times.
Most likely the gear is off one tooth.
