Post your past
The wonderful job Spriso did for SRL311 #342 and the photo history that emerged got me thinking about the past and when it all started for me, so I found some pics that literally were almost from the day it started. Little did I know it would end up being a lifetime relationship that has covered hundreds of thousands of miles, made many friends and even more acquaintances, and has done more for me as a person than I can say. This car and I were meant for each other. I fit in it perfectly, it's comfortable and has just always felt right, like no other car. I never get tired of looking at it, even when I'm mad at it.
Here's the day after I found it under a pile of snow in Pullman WA at Washington St University. A buddy snapped this pic (thank you Randy, where ever you are). We often don't appreciate pictures as much anymore because they are so easy to take, but a picture is truly amazing as it captures a moment in time exactly as it was. This pic barely even shows the car, but it represents a seriously life-changing moment for me. The other is the pic I sent to my parents asking if they would consider this a graduation present... they said yes! At this point I didn't even know what a '67 2000 was... I was just in love with the car.

And isn't it amazing how you have a picture of someone you have never met in your head and they end up not looking at all what you pictured?

He doesn't look all that different now except for some gray hair. And gray has invaded my sides and whiskers.

Look at all that hair! And I remember when you told Roman Rist to get a haircut because he was a hippie...

Um, how many of old guys didn't kind of look like a hippie? At 19 I had shoulder length and it got shorter and shorter as I got tired of dealing with it.

I went 10 years without a hair cut and it wasn’t much longer than Greg’s! Now what hair that isn’t grey has an ominous flesh color
Funny thing is, I’m happier with my hair now than ever

Re: Post your past
Well I only found two photos of my 1500 and not the one of it in the driveway all while watching the Olympics. If only I still had this car.
I'm think I was avoiding having my picture taken.
And my fender after the hit and run !&^#* guy ran the stop sign and hit me.

Re: Post your past
My first roadster-- a very forgettable 1966 1600 that I drove home (barely) for $600. It broke down nearly every trip afterwards, but we had an amazing time that summer, and it really set the hook (orangy paint, flipped shackles, and the MGB wheels and all...)
With my Dad on an unusual successful test drive.

On the Buena Vista Ferry (which I have a great story I'll share one day):

Re: Post your past
Ha ha ha ha! You guys crack me UP! I hope you'll all start digging through those old pics... really fun memories... and I can't believe anyone (SPL310) remembered me calling Roman a hippie! Check out the pic below... first year that Barbie came to Shasta... not sure of the year but her hair ain't got nothing on me! Until it fell out. And Buddy, no it wasn't my 510 (I didn't even notice that! My bad... used to be a common car eh? Now they're $30k) but I had my '73 620 pick up back then (second car I owned, the Roadster was the third). Wish I had some pics of that little beast, another great ride that I put thousands of miles on and taught myself everything mechanical. Curtis, I didn't even know your connection to Roadsters went back that far! Michael, great pics man... there with your dad, enjoying the start of a lifelong adventure and probably not having a clue you would end up restoring cars to the amazing level you do, truly the gold standard (I actually like the MG wheels more than many I see!). And my Montana friend (I'm afraid I've lost your name after cleaning out my PMs) we'll have to meet up someday to put face to posts!
To all, Nissan got it right when they said to "Enjoy the Ride"... I always have and will continue to do so!
