Filling up the dashpot oil in the SU's is regularly mentioned. What isn't mentioned is:
a) Where did the oil go? Does it leak down into the carb after a loooooong time?
b) How do you remove the old oil? Sure, you can flip the carb over, but what if I don't want to remove the carb -- turkey baster?

Your oil leaked out! The car must be shot. Immediately have it shipped to me and I will dispose of it properly!
The oil gets splashed over into the intake and sucked into the car. That is one reason that Marvel Mystery Oil is a good choice. To remove the old, get a straw. Remove the cap and do like you did with coca cola back in school - put it in, put a finger over the top and lift up a bunch!
If you extend the tip of a turkey baster, it will work. Compressed air works, but it makes a NASTY mess...

I went to the feed and seed store and picked up a small medical syringe and extended the tip with some wiper hose. Good for putting in and taking out. The oil attacks the plunger after a while so you either need to take it apart and clean after each use or throw it away when the plunger sticks. The oil leaks down into the carb and gets sucked in and burned. They only hold a few CCs so it's not enough to hurt anything.

That is exactly why Marvel Mystery Oil is a good choice. It is formulated as a top cylinder lubricant. It getting sucked in is perfect for what it is designed for.keith0alan wrote: The oil leaks down into the carb and gets sucked in and burned.
