converting to twist-on oil filter

Post by blazin311 »

i was wondering if it was difficult to swap out my old cartridge type oil filter to a new twist on. i have a oil filter mount from a newer type and needed some guidance before i do this. any help would be appreciated. thanks all.

It is a simple bolt on, but make sure that your new spin on base has the correct anti drain back tube. Also, use a new gasket - but you knew that I am sure...

If you have a tube that fits snugly, it is fine. There are two lengths. The original is much taller than the one that was available later. You have a 311 with a 1500 engine?

I have a complete 67.5 1600 in the garage plus two spare 1600 blocks. The down side is that I am in Jacksonville, Florida...

No, it would take a little more in gas (and hotel!) money than that...

thanks for the support steve. would either one of you happen to have a sway bar clamp that goes on the lower arm? i just found out the anti-sway bar wasn't even connected on the passenger side, the clamp or bracket seem to have broke off. it gives the most violent shakes when you hit a bump. so if you guys have one or know of someone please send them my way. thanks
