Remove spindle from upper control arm?
I feel like I'm working with one of those puzzles where it seems like the part is too large to be removed from the puzzle.
But how do you remove the spindle from the upper control arm? I pushed it all the way to one side, and there still wasn't enough room to pull the other side out. Since I'm going to replace the rubber bits, should I just cut the old ones off. If its going to be this close in tolerance, is there any special trick I should know about getting the rubber boots in place for reassembly?
Thanks

Re: Remove spindle from upper control arm? We
You have to unscrew the large hex bushings. You might be able to get by just removing just one, I can’t remember.

You have to remove both nuts. You need a vice and an impact gun to get them off. I can't remember the socket size but I am sure someone will chime in with it.

Re: Remove spindle from upper control arm?
I removed both of the large nuts on the side (with the grease nipples). So the bushings they screw into need to be removed as well? Them seem kind of flush mounted, is there a special tool I need to remove them from the arm?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Remove spindle from upper control arm?
Use a half inch impact but in gentle/ slow bursts
If it threads out good
if is just starts spinning it can ruin the control arm or you'llneed some welding work

Re: Remove spindle from upper control arm?
Okay, I got it. It I pulled really tightly against the rubber boot, there was barely enough room to pry it out.
And I guess those nuts are the bushings. I thought you guys meant there was a bushing insert inside. Been working on too many new cars I guess.
Now those lower arm bushings, ugh...
