Cable is 'off' the speedo. That part is 'done' -- drive end broke off the flexible cable and is stuck in the speedo. Removal at a later date.
Torquing the cable at the carrier end doesn't loosen the bond between carrier and hole in transmission case, and could damage the pinion or shear the cable.
What am I missing?

Re: 5-Speed Transmission Speedometer Pinion Carrier
So if the pinion spins freely in carrier when the car is in gear then it shouldn't break, mine didn't. The carrier will spin around it. I needed it for another transmission. But who knows for you.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

Re: 5-Speed Transmission Speedometer Pinion Carrier
Yeah, it's the carrier that's stuck in the transmission case, not the cable stuck in the carrier, and not the pinion stuck, except as part of the carrier. Thanks.
