Hello all,
Would an SU throttle shaft leak cause idle variation? I would think it would just raise the idle.
Thanks,
Joseph

Re: Idle Variation
Yes, worn shafts definitely can cause idle to wander. However, I have rebuilt throttle shafts and still had the problem. I recently put in new needles from Z Therapy and my idle is rock stable, and the entire power band is extremely smooth and consistent.
You can shoot some brake cleaner in near the throttle shaft while the car is idling to see if it effects rpm's.

Re: Idle Variation
I sprayed some carb cleaner at the throttle shafts and engine rpm changes, so it's confirmed I have a leak. I just figured leak would mean more air-flow and thus higher rpm, not wandering rpm. Thanks for the note about the needles.
