Before And After

Post by GGB »

Huge thank you to this site and all the great members. This forum has been a priceless resource in completing my 8 month restoration. Here are some pics of the process. Purists look away. She was not original when I purchased her. I ran with that and kept a stripped down version with some newly added unorthodox parts such as MG seats and front air dam. This car was purchased in September in Cupertino, CA. It had been garaged since 1987. Numbers matching. Rust free frame. I had originally planned to rebuild the engine. The car would not start, roll or brake. Turns out that most the labor involved brakes, clutch, exterior and interior. With some love and attention payed to the engine, she purrs like a kitten. I will probably rewire the dash next fall. The PO made an art project out of the wiring, so I have neatly tucked away. First thing is getting in some summer driving. Wheels are VTO 15"x7" Rear and 15"x6" Front with +12 and +24 offset. Yokohama 195/55. Great fit except for the front hubcaps. Thanks to Alvin's threads I was able to sort out the mind bending information involved in fitting rims and tires. Also, thanks to Dean at Datsun Parts for quality products.

Looks great! Now go enjoy the ride.

Did the car come with that steering wheel? I have an identical one that needs to be rebuilt. Had it for about 25 years.

Peace,
Pat

Thanks Pat. Yes it came with the wheel. The car still has some 1980's seasoning remaining.....

That looks great.

And Wow! 8 months seems incredible!

Great job... and thanks for making me feel like a slacker.

Another shot in the arm and more reassurance that this can be done.

Quite an improvement, now you can enjoy driving it while you finish the small details.

That is an amazingly compressed timeline for a total restoration. Looks phenomenal, congratulations on a job well done!

Looks amazing! Question, you mentioned "Wheels are VTO 15"x7" Rear and 15"x6" Front with +12 and +24 offset" can you confirm that the Front offset was +24mm and rear offset was +12mm?
