I found a really good woodworker to build the wood wheel for me and I'm just handling the finishing steps ( Varnish and polish)
I looked at a few wooden wheels that me and some friends have at home from Momo and Nardi and saw that they are typically a soft oval, I have medium sized hands and the one that felt the best to me was a Momo Grand Prix at 27x26mmDaryl Smith wrote: Fri Feb 12, 2021 1:35 pm That is looking really good.
How thick is the rim?
Looks like around 1 inch...much thicker than stock, which is a good thing, imo.
So we copied that but because we wanted the metal rim to only be in one of the halves the finish product is ~26x28mm and the grip is perfect
To note that prior to bringing the wheel to him I had it reduced by almost one inch so that the final wheel diameter is 378mm (14.88inch) compared to the stock wheel 400mm (15.75inches)

Re: SPL311-12768 Mr Green
#finished the first part of refurbishing the seats by cleaning and repainting the frame and rails
The rails were not as rusted as Somme I have seen but as everything else with this car they were caked into dirt ,
cleaning process was simple but thorough, I first removed all grease and dirt with several passes with a hard bristles brush and brake cleaner which 8 followed by hot steam pressure wash
After letting them dry for a few days I had them bead blasted to complete the cleaning, I finished ever with 3 coats of Eastwood Silver clad
Im extremely happy with the results
The seats frame were simply bead blasted and painted with rustproofing enamel paint

Steering wheel is done
this was one of my favourite projects so far for the 67.5
It’s made out of African Mahogany and the total diameter has been reduced by ~24mm to 376mm (compared to the stock 400mm) the grip was increased to 26x29mm to closely match a Momo Indy wheel

Here's the before shot

Re: SPL311-12768 Mr Green
Thanks guys, It's always gratifying when other people appreciate your work and with the quality of the mechanical work JT has done this car deserve only the best
The pictures unfortunately do not really capture the colors but it has some red shades in it that are simply beautiful and will accentuate wit the new red paint . I'll post pictures later in the sun when it's warm (it's too cold outside right now for fresh varnish)
The only piece missing is a new center logo to complete the vision

Re: SPL311-12768 Mr Green
Well it looks like youre gonna have to do a full blown write up on how to do the steering wheel! That is of course so i can totally copy what you did....and thats also totally your fault...I no longer want a "fancy" name brand wheel
