Spark plug wire pattern
I have a 1967.5/1600. Does anyone have a pic that shows where the spark plug wire from the distributor goes to each cylinder?

Re: Spark plug wire pattern
Plugs are 1-4 from Radiator to firewall. Plug wires go onto the distributor cap COUNTER-CLOCKWISE in a 1-3-4-2 pattern.
1 is determined by where your rotor is pointing when the crank is at top dead center on the compression stroke.
A picture is not reliable as your car's timing or distributor may have been altered at some point in it's life.

Thanks guys. Looks like notoply was right when he said it could differ from car to car.

Re: Spark plug wire pattern
The main reason for the difference is whether the installer inserted the distributor drive 180 deg out from stock.
That requires the leads to be a different pattern to stock but still works just fine.
Stock setting is No. 1 lead lining up with the mark on the outside of the distributor cap which is about 1100 when you view from the top.

Re: Spark plug wire pattern
Nate, if you're having trouble getting her to run, it would be worth going through the process if confirming you are on the compression stroke of cylinder #1 and that the dizzy rotor lines up with #1 plug wire from which you can then organize your plug wires (1 3 4 2 firing order). If you need help, let us know and we'll walk you through static timing the engine or confirming your current set up is correct. Welcome back!

Re: Spark plug wire pattern
Not just this reason, but anytime an engine has been apart, or someone has removed the distributor or changed the position of the Oil pump drive gear there is no telling how they put it back. I run into this all the time when people upgrade to EI distributors and I have to walk them through this. It's really easy to locate #1 at TDC, and will take all the guesswork out of the process.Nissanman wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 8:29 pm The main reason for the difference is whether the installer inserted the distributor drive 180 deg out from stock.
