On the advice of the Tech Wiki & Curtis, I bought a VW fuel sender to replace mine. The VW unit has a single terminal, while my original has two - one for the signal to the gauge and one for ground. What should I do with my ground wire when I install the VW unit? Solder it to the metal plate? Strip the wire and tighten it under one of the screws that attaches the unit?
Thanks!

Re: VW fuel sender question
Either one would work, good connection is what counts. Just to be sure, I would wire it up and test before installing, be sure full is full etc.

Re: VW fuel sender question
Just installed a VW sender in my 66. The Yellow wire goes to the top of the sender. The black can ground with one of the screws that mounts the sender. Had to bend the arm so when empty is about 6 inches below the top of tank.

Re: VW fuel sender question
I bought the Karmann Gia sender I believe. It has two terminals. As to the ground I would put a ring or fork terminal on it and hook it to one of the seal screws.
66 stroker, almost done.

Re: VW fuel sender question
Decided to put my VW sender in. I dug it out and found as noted it only has the one terminal. I have two or three good originals but I want to test this. The bolt circle for the sender hole is not evenly spaced so it has to be put in with the float to the side. I forgot they're not spaced every 72 degrees. I suppose that's so you can only put the Datsun sender in one way.

Re: VW fuel sender question
The part is easy enough to find, this for a 1970 Beatle, $22

Anyone know if the spade terminal connector needs to be changed out or does the Roadster connector slip right on?
Thanks
