240/280x parts interchangeability

Post by The Neck »

Hey everyone,

I've slowly been looking through the local CL ads for Datsun parts and found a guy that's parting out several z cars. Brakes, distributors, and many other parts are ready to go. What all, if any, are able to be used in a 67.5 1600 for a relative stock upgrade? I'm about to pull the trigger on a EI dizzy, and since I have these close by I might as well dig in.

Are there any hidden gems in these cars that I can use?

Thanks,

Mike

Very few...mostly consumable items...I had a 70 SRL, 71 510 and a 72 240Z all restored with in a few years of each other and only a few items would fit across cars..., most wheels/rims, clutch slave cylinder, window cranks (only for 70 roadster but would work on 67.5), seat belts, headlights, ignition coils, plugs and wires, voltage regulators with square plugs...wheel bearings if I recall correctly, brake master with fitting mods, steering wheels, various dash switches but would not be original. I also think rotor, points and condensers are the same but e-dizzy is the better way to go.

I sold my dime and Z (damn! and I kick myself almost every day given current car prices) and I still have boxes of spares parts for each of these cars...
