Valence Question

Post by todd lorber »

This is just out of idle curiosity, not for any technical reason, but does anyone know why the cutouts on valences are different on various models, and which cutouts were for which model years?

Is that definitive? Because I thought I've seen photos of low windshield cars with the larger, more centralized holes (like on Chris Carter's car, which I had assumed was a low windshield).
If so, can I assume it was to improve cooling?

Yes, it is a later piece. Low windshield cars all originally had the small holes. Don't take my word for it though, here is the page from Dann at Rallye:

Some prefer to change the front on the earlier cars to the larger holes.

I'm replacing a damaged 70 big hole with a 68 small. I do prefer the bigger holes for better air but I got it for free and beggars Can't be choosers!
