REMINDER: Please read the "NO TROLLING" sticky
It's 2021, and I'm disheartened to be writing this.
FOURTEEN years ago Steve Allen created the following sticky entitled NO TROLLING. See it here:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6176
Why was this sticky made? There were members incessantly badgering folks who started engine swap threads, in the engine swap section!
Repeatedly, over and over. You know how it goes. Someone posts that they are going to do and engine swap, looking for technical help...instead they are hit with a barrage of replies with quite the opposite. And here we are, more than a decade later. The NO TROLLING sticky is still there, to prevent thread jacking.
We need an amendment to this sticky. Or even a reminder. Something. So people can get the information they need here and move on without their threads turning into a mess.
Suggestions:
-If you feel strongly about voicing your opinion about Engine Swaps, their "legality", their "worth", their "necessity" etc...Start Your Own Thread!
Don't muck up some poor soul's engine swap thread.
-Alternatively, be bold enough to private message them how you feel
-Unless it's solicited by the OP, keep it to yourself
-If you absolutely must interject because you feel like your reply has critical information that the community can benefit from, ask the OP first! Better yet, request a sticky from the moderators. No need to mention it repeatedly in other's engine swap threads.
This is the ENGINE SWAP SECTION. Let's keep it productive and useful.
This is my SR20 engine swap. I'm proud of it. I've enjoyed it daily for the past 18 years.

ps...moderators I'm totally ok if you delete this.

Re: REMINDER: Please read the "NO TROLLING" sticky
I wonder what build this is in reference too...
Sorry for getting the hornets stirred up. I end up swapping the engine on most of my stuff in the pursuit of better mileage, or power, or reliability, etc. I have here a 52 Willys with a 95 Ford 3.8 V6, a 04 F150 with a 89 Isuzu 3.9 L4 diesel, a 01 Sport Trac with a 97 Explorer 302. It was inevitable, and inevitable that people won't like it, just as there are people that don't like my other conversions. I do my swaps for me, and I share them for those that may be interested.

Re: REMINDER: Please read the "NO TROLLING" sticky
Well, I thought I was rather respectful with my post.... ...perhaps not....trolling? really? me?
I'll just go back and delete those nasty notes.
AS you said...Please be bold enough to message me and let me know if I'm mucking up your thread. I have no problem removing them. I wouldn't normally read a "no trolling" thread.....
Cheers

Thanks for the reminder Alvin. These policies and their respectful enforcement are what separated this website from most other forums.

Let us always strive to be respectful to ALL Roadster owners while remembering that it's a car, it's YOURS, and you can do what ever you want to it to express yourself, from creating a dead stock example to a wild custom. Drive on!

Re: REMINDER: Please read the "NO TROLLING" sticky
Alvin makes some very basic points about trolling posts and how counter-productive they are to an individual's posting about their experience, their problem or their passion as it relates to roadsters. It expands the definition of trolling to include incessant, repetitive, single theme posts replying to a post or topic. Whether the trolling post is factual or not, is inconsequential, it is still trolling and will be treated as such. This definition is commonly used on other progressive forums but not all. 311s.org strives to be like no other forum! Enjoy your roadster today!redroadster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 9:04 pm
