It was weird to see it show up in my own google news feed. I better not disappoint.

The address on the title is in Winslow, WAdamarble wrote: Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:36 amInteresting. It ended up in Gig Harbor where I found it. I have a title printed in 71.orangedawg wrote: Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:34 am I wonder where that car came from? WA plates and it suspiciously looks like one that was stored in Wenatchee for years and never moved (well, I recall it being moved from driveway to carport). Never saw it driven, ever, in 35 years. Curious if same car.

It'll be fun to watch you do this. If you can get that thing to fit I may consider swapping out my SR20. lolDAC21 wrote: Tue Dec 29, 2020 6:09 pmNo backing out now!damarble wrote: Tue Dec 29, 2020 12:30 pm Looks like it made auto evolution too haha

Here’s a good piece on transplanting a Ford 2.3L Ecoboost engine into a 1968 roadster.

I just found a hero willing to extract measurements from a cad file of the NC Miata 6 speed.

I measured my xtra roadster 5 speed and get 27.5 to 28.78, 29 to 32.66 and 6 to 8.57 so the 6 sp is longer and wider for sure. And just cking out the cad drawing looks quite a bit deeper behind the bell housing too.

Re: Viability of the Ford 2.3 Ecoboost
Thanks! I was just out measuring my tunnel and I think there's a chance this thing fits with some "percussive expansion". The widest part at 8.57, which I think is the reverse gear, should sit approximately 11-12" in front of the original shifter, right under the radio. From in the car I measure around 8-9" there, with a larger bulge on the left side. If the right side was bulged to match we might have something.70MTRoadster wrote: Fri Jan 01, 2021 5:39 pm I measured my xtra roadster 5 speed and get 27.5 to 28.78, 29 to 32.66 and 6 to 8.57 so the 6 sp is longer and wider for sure. Wait, a Miata oil pan fits a Ford Ecoboost? What did I miss?

The ecoboost is based off the Mazda MZR block used in 06-14 Miatas, and many other Mazdas of that era.TurboRagtop wrote: Thu Jan 14, 2021 9:49 am Wait, a Miata oil pan fits a Ford Ecoboost? What did I miss?

Re: Viability of the Ford 2.3 Ecoboost
Ok, some good news. The Aerostar driveshaft fits the Miata transmission splines perfectly! Except the oil seal is too big so I'll have to find the right one.
