Scotty,

In the tranny I run Redline MTL(Manual Transmisson Lubricant) In the diff I run Redline Lightweight shockproof gear oil, yep there is a patern forming here. They are exspensive as all get out but really do a great job. Knock on wood I have not had a failure yet, and I punish the tranny and rearend in my race car.

I saw a demonstration where oil with the lucas product caused the oil to froth and retain air at high rpm. I think air is a ineffective lubricant.

I run redline as well. I split the rear axel housing in March and was able to limp home with no damage done to the rear end. If you want another alternitive, try some SWEPCO in the transmission. I know several 510 racers who run roadster 5spds and they swear by the stuff. I have yet go buy some as it only comes in 5 gallon drums. You can get it from Pellican Parts. They are a Porsche place that has a website, just search for it.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Russell, you like the thinner MTL and the lightweight gear oil? People keep telling me to go thicker, cause my tranny is a bit tired. Redline also makes an amazing fuel system cleaner that will unclog the worst injectors. It looks like cheery cough syrup.

Currently I'm using Mobil HD90 (API-GL5) for both tranny and diff. So far no tranny and diff noise except when I shift to 2nd (looks like the synchro has worn down). I'll be switching to Mobil High Performance 80W-90. I'm hoping that this will give extra protection especially during those "lead-footed" acceleration :D
