Ebrake handle removal
Hello all,
How is the ebrake handle removed? I'm referring to just the plastic handle.
Thanks ,
Joseph

Re: Ebrake handle removal
It is held on by adhesive: you need to pull and twist to break it free.
I didn't use a heat gun, wasn't at all sure that would help!

Nissanman, just trying to help.

Re: Ebrake handle removal
I had to destroy mine to get it off. After the rechrome, I replaced it with one from Dean.

Yusef, Did you know that those handles will clean up and look like new if not damaged?

Yes, I saw another post about polishing and I already performed a polish on the shift knob - hoping to do the same on the ebrake, but definitely seems stuck on there!

Re: Ebrake handle removal
If that’s all you’re looking to do, that can be accomplished with the handle installed...

You did this with the handle in the car?

Re: Ebrake handle removal
If yours is good it’s very easy to sand and polish with handle in the car
Removing it can be a real pain , mine had so much dried glue in there that even heating with a heat gun didn’t do anything in the end same as John I had to brake it off

Re: Ebrake handle removal
yes, yusef, it didn't take long and wasn't difficult. I probably scraped the worst of it off with my pocket knife before sanding. It is like many other surfaces, When polishing alloy wheels and clear-coat paint you start with medium sand paper and finish up with polishing compound.

Re: Ebrake handle removal
Okay. I might try that, I was worried about making a mess, but I can set something up to prevent debris from getting everywhere. Thanks for the input!
