I'm talking disassembly. People ought to know to thoroughly clean before assembly and use the grease with the seals. If they don't they probably shouldn't be working on it.
That’s the idea of the write-up , teaching, in my opinion.

The Caliper repair kit Curtis mentioned being available at Rockauto is found only under 1970, 2000 Roadster even though it is used for all 1967 and up models. Nice price of $9.38 per side, but if the photo of the kit is accurate it does not come with retaining rings, teeth washers, bleeder boots and grease like the Nissan kit. I have no R&R experience (yet) on these brakes, so I don't know if the old retaining rings will come off clean for reuse which would be the biggest concern with buying this kit. The individual retaining rings p/n 41135-73400 appears discontinued outside of the Nissan kit. I found the Nissan kit online for $50 delivered. $23 delivered for Rockauto to Cali inc tax and shipping.

I don't want to get in to all the small details on this. If I write up how to assemble and some things in it and something goes wrong then guess who gets the blame. If all that gets added then my name comes off. A search of the web will turn up some videos for most of that.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.
Nice write up Thanks! I just pulled apart a set of spare calipers and the cylinders are pretty nasty. Is there someone who sleeves them on this site? I scrolled through the vendors list and did not find anything. Thanks ahead of time.
Apple Brake cylinders prices are based on brass sleeves which is saving $15 or so per cylinder over SS? A little research shows Brass vs SS is a bit of a tomato / tomoto situation. Seems pretty reasonable especially if you do your own rebuild. Even with two way shipping I'd think you would be about $380 all in with new sleeves and buying your own rebuild kit.

DAC21, for what it's worth I pulled a very nasty set of front cylinders apart a couple years ago and those rings were in surprisingly good condition.

Apple notes that the cylinder sleeving can also be done in SS for extra cost, which I did not know. Always thought they did brass only.
Carb and parts offering is nice too.
Nice to see they are still around, especially for the East Coast. To me this is a no brainer for brake cylinder maintainence.
I also noted the cylinder rubber retainer rings were fine on my rebuild. I used Evapo Rust first then cleaned and sprayed Rust Reformer.

Boy that pin had the snot bent out of it on this Apple photo. Also a question on the early 1600 Master Cylinder. It has a 90 degree turn where the Brake line fitting comes in. Can that MS be re-sleeved with that turn in the casting? Or does that portion of the cylinder not matter (re-sleeving) as long as it isn't rusted out since there is no piston travel in that section?
That pin is not bent, it is a floating ball/socket end.
That cylinder can be re-sleeved no problem, and in fact it already has been with the brass as you can see on close inspection.
"When all else fails, force prevails!" Ummm, we're gonna need a bigger hammer here.

Thanks, I had not heard about the floating pin before. But I'm not following you on the re-sleeving, it was in reference (I changed the subject to an early Master Cylinder) to the right angle on the early 1600 Brake MS.
