New to the forum and I need some help.
I got a 69 2000 recently and am planning to restomod it. I have the full original motor, but I’m going to do an engine swap so I’m selling the original. I just want to know where I could post to get help figuring out the value of the original engine.
Thank you

well here - but more details - carburetion (presume includes tranny et al.) - pickup or ship - mileage/condition (approx) - desirable - to an extent since no longer numbes matching

I love the engine swaps, I do but it is a shame that you are doing it to an SRL matching numbers car as they only made 1 SRL 2000 for every 5 SPL 1600’s. 2000’s are such an amazing car for the day. Please everyone I don’t hate the swaps, I’m not trying to shame anyone I’m just stating that numbers matching SRL’s are getting rare.

+1 - good point Dave. - maybe there could be a 'swap' forum - i.e. I want to do a swap (with money) vs I want an original but broke? Or something like that. I too embrace the enhancement(s) but with the rising significance of these cars and the focus of matching numbers it would seem that 'swapping' might be in order

Re: New to the forum and I need some help.
Is the car currently running and if not have you driven a 2000? A good running 2000 has pretty good power and can be upgraded for less than a quality engine swap. Where in Oklahoma are you? If you haven’t driven one and are near Tulsa you could drive mine to see what it’s like. Well as soon as I finish my rear end swap anyway.

Re: New to the forum and I need some help.
According to Rallye numbers, there were more 2000s made than 1600s from 68-70. There were 12230 2000s made and 11730 1600s made from 68-70. If you look at RHD numbers, the 68-70 1600 is much rarer, with only 50 1600s made and 1680 2000s made during those same years.david premo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 7:38 am I love the engine swaps, I do but it is a shame that you are doing it to an SRL matching numbers car as they only made 1 SRL 2000 for every 5 SPL 1600’s. 2000’s are such an amazing car for the day. If you just look at 67.5, there is only 650 2000s but 4300 1600s made. But the RHD 67.5 1600 is rarer than the RHD 67.5 2000, with only 200 1600s made vs. 430 67 2000s.

YES! I'm going to start peppering my Roadster conversations with "rare 1600 option" !!steve_car wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 11:48 amAccording to Rallye numbers, there were more 2000s made than 1600s from 68-70. Re: New to the forum and I need some help.
I have long advocated keeping solid numbers matching cars together. There are plenty of frankenstein roadsters out there that you could start with. But we all know that no one listens to Sid...

Well at least the OP has posted, and now someone can step in and offer to buy the car, or promise to help find one he can cut up-

Re: New to the forum and I need some help.
Since I posted I’ve pulled the head off the engine. It’s in a lot worse condition than I thought it was cylinders 3 & 4 got flooded the last time the car was parked and there’s a massive amount of buildup from the gas. I understand the sentiment of keeping the original motor but I don’t think I have the know how or the resources to manage it at the moment. All other parts of the engine are in good condition though and I can post pictures tomorrow if it helps
Thank you

Re: New to the forum and I need some help.
please do that. I ressurected a 69 this year that had been sitting since the early 80's! Sometimes it doesn't take as much as you might think to get these little beasties back operating again...without spending a ton of money too!
