New Roadster race car project

Post by zippy67roadster »

So on a whim I put in a bid for this race car. I really don't need another one but I figured if I didn't buy it Michael Anderson would, LOL. Actually I put in a bid that I figured if I won it I could explain it to the wife. When I placed my bid I was immediately outbid and thought, "well that was quick!". I forgot about the auction until Tom Neely, the seller, called me and told me I had won. It appears the other bidder was a scammer using a stolen credit card. Well Now I own another race car and have to explain it to the wife. Tom was great and was able to cut me a great deal on having it transported to a friends in Las Vegas. It will remain there until the new shop in Texas is completed. It was raced by Jeffery Waxman and then Lance Voss. Once I get it to the shop it will be restored to the 1972 livery shown in the attached pictures, I will put a GP 1600 motor in it and try and get the wife to race it.

Whats funny is I was seriously considering tossing a bid at that.. The price was so low and it was right down the street..

But I decided Kevin would kill me if another race car showed up in his garage while he was in Vegas welcoming his son home from overseas..

Id pull the steering column first to fix the collapsing shaft ...by the rust on it outside. 311s were known for seizing up in a short time

This 311 likely has the solid "death spear" steering shaft. Collapsible/telescoping came on later models.

This car is a 67.5. Unfortunately the frame has been reinforced and the number covered up.

Any plans to try to remove the reinforcing to identify the chassis?

I would probably be up for removing it to see what the number is. It might help me track down some more history on it as well. I won't get the car to Texas until this summer but once it is here I plan on working on it and posting regular updates.
