Need help with horns

Post by printner »

Need more help with horns. I thought I finally had a working pair, but when I power them on together, the sound "oscillates," making me think I have two horns of the same frequency. Has anyone ever experienced this??

The horns should have an adjustmet screw that will vary the pitch . It is off center on one side of the horn. About a #8 size head IIRC. Try moving it in and out a few turns. It adjust the breker contact to the horn coil.it may be the breaker contact is tarnished resulting in high resistance.

Don’t know about the roadster horns since I haven’t be in to mine, but other horns I’ve seen are akin to a set of ignition points inasmuch as they can be slightly filed or sanded to restore sound.

It is a delecate adjustment to say the least on many
Many times it looses the vibration that gives you sound .move it only a 1/256 the of a inch to start

Look at the back, if the terminals are on the same side you have two of the same. Hi is on one, low on the other. And if you don't mount them with terminal at the top the horn wire won't reach.
