Air Conditioning Recomendations for a 2000

Post by AirFlow »

Hello,

I am thinking about getting a 2000 Roadster. I live in an area with high Summer humidity and temperatures. I haven't seen any updated posts in the last 5 years on AC.

Does anybody have a solid recommendation for:

o compressor and compressor mount

o evaporator
o vents and controls

Pictures :D ?

Would a modern system cause overheating issues?

Thanks!

So several people have posted on adding AC but most have done it in conjunction with an engine swap, SR20 being the only ones I can recall.
At least two have been recent, Including "Mothra" by Michael Montez. Search the threads, there are definitely posts on this topic.

So I flip the latches on the soft top, and push down on the long skinny pedal on the right. Seems to cool things down. When outside temps are over 100, I drive something with a roof.

Fairfax isn't nearly as bad as some more southern locales. I graduated high school in Alexandria Va and drove a Roadster at the time. Never wanted a/c in the car then. Now I only want one with AC for my wife...

They sell nice custom car/hot rod ones that fit under the dash and do heat and cool. You could get rid of the stock heater.

How about electric compressor, ones that won’t require a belt to run. But then you’ll probably have to up the alternator to 60-80 amps. GM Alt?
