Post by redroadster68 »

Hi All
Anyone have any experience with failed pertronix or other electronic ignition. What were the symptoms of the failure? Cure?

I have Pertronix. It was running great then magically started missing. As I recall more so at higher RPM. I hadn't changed anything else, but I checked the fuel first, since it had similar symptoms to when it runs lean. All that seemed fine, switched out the Pertronix and it ran normal again.

Some times they fail when they warm up before they fail completely. Run fine cold.

One MAJOR problem of putting IC component on old autos is the alternator . They leaked A/C current
( spikes) into the system .
