installing a non Datsun limited slip rear end
I am aware of the Mazda RX-7 limited slip swap but are there any others like fords or chevys that have been done to roadsters that have been posted on the forum?

I've seen detroit lockers used. They can be had new from summit that fit the Roadster rear end.

Re: installing a non Datsun limited slip rear end
Ford 8, 8.8 and 9 inch rear axles have been done. Also I have seen a Toyota, but I don't remember which one, I think it was a truck with custom axles.
They are all pretty much the same process, shorten the housing, shorten the axles or have custom axles. Brakes and flanges......

Would you have a part number for the detroit locker?
Thanks.

Re: installing a non Datsun limited slip rear end
Has anyone on this list installed one of these OS Giken units?
If so, does your car drive $1500 better?
I would be interested in hearing real world pros/cons.

Re: installing a non Datsun limited slip rear end
I have a OS Giken in my S2000 race car and it works fine. I use the original Nissan LSDs in the roadster race car. Both are clutch type LSD and are very similar in construction and function. Not sure what your question is about driving $1500 better? Do you need a LSD in your street car? The purpose is to stop the inner rear wheel from spinning up when it loses traction under hard cornering. If your having that issue then it helps with that problem. For me it's worth it on the race car, on the street car not so much.funkaholik wrote: Thu Sep 17, 2020 7:42 pm Has anyone on this list installed one of these OS Giken units?

Yes, a few owners have installed it into their roadsters. I have not, but I have driven.

Is a question of "is it worth it?" For a vintage car I'm sure any of our purchases can be justified.

100% agree with Mike Unger's comments. It's there when you need it. Transparent otherwise. I have the RX-7 setup.
