Sins of the PO wiring?
As I try and work out why my running lights aren’t on any more, I’m digging into the wiring and found some fuses/wiring I believe arent stock and were added by the PO. Looking for any suggestions to the purpose or function of any of these.

Re: Sins of the PO wiring?
So the silver cylinder is the hazard flasher. Just found it on the wiring schematic in the techwiki, don’t know how I over looked that

Re: Sins of the PO wiring?
Your wiring hath been hacked. Stock car comes with two flasher cans. They had a tendency to put in one silver and one gold color can. One of yours has been replaced.
Looks like your starter harness wire and light switch have been modified.

That's what I was afraid of. Having extremely limited knowledge/understanding of cars, learning on a hack-job is that much more difficult.Curtis wrote: Sun Aug 30, 2020 7:54 pm Your wiring hath been hacked. So i tried a circuit tester (one of those pointy things with a light and a ground wire) on the light switch. In the zero position, the red wire/connection lights up. At position 1 and 2, the red, red/yellow, and red/blue (if I'm remembering correctly) light up. At no point does the green or green/white light up. Does this suggest the light switch itself is faulty, or am I testing it wrong?

Re: Sins of the PO wiring?
I just reloaded the headlight one, I had a wire shown that does not apply to US models.

Re: Sins of the PO wiring?
Matt, I had what may have been a similar situation with my '67, that Curtis helped me through. Detective work showed that the ammeter, which at least on the early cars but perhaps not on the later ones, can serve as a fuse, had indeed blown out. When this happens the car goes completely dead, so a bypass is needed. The bypass installed on my car was quite extensive, and the first round of curing it, once I started to drive the car, proved to be incomplete. I had more work to do to to repair it. In order to replace the burned out ammeter I installed a fuse holder below the ammeter, so that it is readily accessible, and even though the wiring is rated for 30A I used a 20A fuse. This was a year ago. I replaced the ammeter with a voltmeter, and then straightened out the wiring under the hood with help from Curtis' diagram. Good luck!

So I guess you'll be wanting the rest of the drawings. Some of the wire gauge call outs are not correct.
