Roadster on Wheeler Dealers

Post by funkaholik »

The new season of Wheeler Dealers just started, and the 1st episode is a Datsun roadster being restored. Show aired 8/26. They call the car a '69, though it has no side marker lights. But it does have the '69 side mount license plate lights and not the '68 bumper mount. Maybe it's a transition car, or the side markers were filled? It's also a 2 litre, but with a 1600 grill. It's suffered a few other indignities during its life, such as red aftermarket side molding, all displacement badges removed, and a velour interior. Interestingly, they buy it from the old master himself, Gene Winfield, who got it in trade.

It's hard for me to watch these shows and not nitpick when they get things wrong. There is a voice over of one of the hosts talking about how he's MIG welding the exhaust cracks, while the video shows him TIG welding it. Surely he knows the difference?
