1600 Su Float adjustment

Post by 67 1/2 1600 »

I replaced the intake/header gasket, cleaned my intake a bit, and now my overflow tubes spill fuel. Dont know why all of a sudden, I did flip the intake/carbs over when I cleaned them, I dont know if that has to do with anything, probably made them go out of adjustment? Also have something in my gas tank that is clogging it up from time to time.

Sounds like your float needle valve assembly has crud in it. If you disconnected the rubber gas line and it is old, sometimes when you reconnect it to the carb chunks of rubber come loose as you push it onto the float lid. Do yourself a favor and clean out that gas tank too. Might as well flush out the gas lines while you're at it. I have just gone through the whole thing on my 1970 1600. The rear carb kept overflowing no matter what I did. Come to find out the return valve on the overflow line was completely gunked up. Good luck and keep us posted.
