69 Datsun 2000 fog light switch location
Could someone tell me where the fog light switch is located or should be located. I bought this car 2 mos.ago and it came with two used fog(running) lights in a box. I'd like to put them back on the car and need to know where to locate the switch. Thanks

The fog light switch for a 69 is built into the headlight switch. When you turn it (edit: clockwise) power is sent to the fog light wires.

You might wire in a relay to power the lights. keeps the h/l switch lasting longer.

Although the factory wiring and relays were adequate for aux lighting when our cars were new, that is great advice for running original, half-century old wiringnissantoy wrote: Sat Aug 01, 2020 10:59 pm Raceneon

And, better not twist too hard anti-clockwise on that original switch, it's meant to twist clockwise to turn on the aux lights.

Not everyone's taste, but LED lamps are a great way to unload the electrical system. Ballasts are available to manage hyperflashing of turn and 4-way flasher circuits.
And, yes, it's one click clockwise on the 1969 "L" knob to energize the fog lamp circuit.

yup - one click CLOCKWISE, but you have to pull the knob one click OUT before turning on the aux circuit.

Re: 69 Datsun 2000 fog light switch location
Pulling the switch out before turning is not necessary with the oem switch, Pete (sure yours hasn’t been changed out?).
As page 3 of the owner’s manual simply says, “By turning the switch clockwise, the fog lights go on.â€
That the fog/aux lights can be turned on independently of all other lights is actually a useful feature during the frequently time consuming and tedious process of getting them aimed correctly. No aggravating current draw and distraction from the other lights during the aiming process.
For any new owner who may be reading this, driving the car with only fog lights illuminated is not recommended, just as the “Throttle Control Knob†is not recommended to provide a motorcycle-type cruise control!
Enjoy your car.

A rear fog light, that's a new one for me. Not a terrible idea when you look at the photos.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

Mandatory in Europe. Essentially a 'rain light', as fitted to race cars, that reveals the position of the car(s) ahead in snow, rain, spray, and fog.

Re: 69 Datsun 2000 fog light switch location
We seem to have the most inadequate lighting laws here in the US. For years we were stuck with lousy sealed beams while other country’s were using halogen H-1’s and H-2’s. Fog lights and driving lights were restricted here, although since some don’t know when to use them it may not have been that bad of a decision. Covered headlights were prohibited. Rear fog lights are non existent here. Some countries require the headlights to be on when the windshield wipers are on, something that all the major manufacturers have integrated into there designs but is deleted for US delivery.
