Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

That's some pretty country up there!!!70MTRoadster wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 6:27 pm 125 mile jaunt today. Started at 4 Corners near Bozeman, MT and headed west to the quaint berg of Norris, then north towards Three Forks, MT but detoured west about half way there towards the Tobacco Root Mountains and the tiny town of Pony where my wife had a beer at the Pony Bar. Then back down to the highway and up to Three Forks, through town and down the frontage road thru Manhattan famous for Sir Scotts Oasis restaurant and other small things. Then south through town to the town of 800, Amsterdam, down along the creek and up and down the woop-dee-doos of the farmland to Norris road and home again to 4 Corners our unicorporated town. 87 degrees when we got home. The transplanted su U20 did great using 1/2 tank of gas oil is clean no leaks or problems. Yay!

Yes it is. So green everywhere it almost hurts your eyes! We never did this in the Stroker because it was always running dangerously hot. I was running a 1250 fpm Hayden electric with the 3 row aluminum (cx racing?) radiator. I built my own EI distributor out of a 1980 200sx dizzy and never recurved it so I may have had the advance all screwed up, dunno. Anyway, I am running the "hurricane" 7 blade fan solid mounted of course and stock points dizzy and the engine ran fine at 180 max thru some pretty warm temps at 70-80 mph. These almost daily excursions are great therapy!!

Roadster Drive Today. 6-26-20. Chinook Pass. 220 miles.
Beautiful in the Cascades today. Sunny, 70's.
Drove to Chinook Pass 5432'. Great views of Mt Rainier from the Pass.
Side excursions on Forest Service Rd 70. 10 paved miles with lots of curves.
And Crystal Mt. Ski resort. 6 miles of recently paved road. Bottom 3 miles are uphill and fast. So nice, I did it twice.

Glad the drive was yesterday and not today, given how the weather changed? Looking forward to going on these drives with y'all someday!

Being originally from the PNW I love this thread. Lots of posts from my old stomping grounds. Was surprised to see there is still snow on the passes. Been near 90 degrees here for a month.

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Over the weekend, took the Vest car out to Buttonwillow to test the rebuilt transmission. Beautiful rebuild, shifts like butter.
While I was there, ran into my friend Nik Romano, and was lucky enough to talk him into running the car. Got some amazing feedback, was fun to see the car running with the Nationals motor in it.
.
Yesterday, had the opportunity to put 50 or so miles on the backroads of northern San Diego county with this new build by Kevin, new Solexes built by Taka, car is just a beautiful backroad cruiser. It needs a couple little adjustments, then will be ready to go home! Love it when there are no weird clunks or trans problems, or overheating, or any of that. It just runs..
.
Anyway, was some fun roadster driving!

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Ahhh! I can't show those spice of life pics to my wife... her dad had a '69 912 that was very influential on her, and that he sold a few years before we met. He would not sell it to her because of the dual carbs, which needed someone (like me!) to balance them. A few years ago we found it in Ohio via the Porsche registry, but the new owner would not sell it to us. Missed opportunity for a fun car.
Alvin, do you guys ever swap cars on these Drives? That would be fun to see how the spice feels, especially with such iconic and similar vintage cars.
