I cut one out of an old inner tube two years ago. I keep an old tube around for this sort of thing.

Ross, Stan, Paul Wells, Mike Young, DRP. Pretty much everyone has them. No need to cut one from an inner tube lol.

I like the inner tube idea. I have used a few seal options from whatever I could find lying around. It’s the cap that is rare, not seal material. lol

Ross, Stan, Paul Wells, Mike Young, DRP. Pretty much everyone has the caps if you want a new or reconditioned cap.

If anyone prefers to cut up inner tubes, that fine. Here are some photos of correctly reconditioned/restored caps available from several vendors.

I have a cap (1600 thermostat housing cap) that I'd like to trade if anyone is interested.
I am just looking to match my "style" which is the yellow zinc coating.
A while ago I didn't realize the polish I was using actually removes the zinc coating and now it is polished great - but silver/chrome looking (you can see in my videos/posts).

Nice caps Jim.
Yes I agree no inner tubes leave them in the pool. Here are the ones we sell. Lifetime gasket replacement. The gasket was acquired by our gasket manufacturer from overseas and is 2.0mm thickness material. He does a lot of trading of Aerospace quality SAE material for metric with other countries.
Nominal refundable core charge. Gasket is also available separately for you "Do it yourself guys"

Personally I would not trust an inner tube gasket but I do trust the vendors. Which reminds me I need to order a couple of gasket for some nice caps I have
