I was trial fitting my new soft top that I got from Datsunparts.com. I am planning to install it myself despite all of the warnings. I have installed the boot and that went well. I have just one question. At the front, on each side where the little screw goes through the fabric there is a a stitched in piece that forms a tube approx. 3.5 inches long.
In the pic it ends just above the front of the vent window. What is this for? Is the front end of the frame supposed to pass through it?

I can’t quite tell from your picture, but is that where the cable goes through and attaches with the screw?

Well, I suppose that is possible but it seems that it is twenty times bigger than it would need to be for that.
