Re: SR20DE Swap in Florida
I would definitely do this, it's a great idea and an inexpensive protection that doesn't detract from the nice paint job.Bigtaku wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2020 6:34 am The Paint is the 2018 Nissan NBA (paint code) shown here on the 2018 370Z. I wanted to stay true to Nissan with the color. It is a three part candy. 04-370z-colors-img-sport-coupe-nba-01.jpgI have thought maybe adding a clear plastic strip to the areas that may come in contact with the soft top to protect the paint.

Re: SR20DE Swap in Florida
Sanding for another full day yesterday, Mothra has the last of the primer on the body. Now to wet sand the primer and off to paint as soon as I'm done. I know I keep on saying this but now that I'm participating in this paint and prep work, I can tell you this process is time consuming to get right. Totally forgot to prime the hard top yesterday.

Re: SR20DE Swap in Florida
I used the 3M clear door edge trim, I got it on Ebay, under the rear hoop to protect the paint. It was easy to apply and the hoop screws just went right thru it easily. I let the paint cure for a month before applying it.

Re: SR20DE Swap in Florida
Mothra the Queen of the Monsters has Paint! Long live the Queen! After wet sanding the paint should look like the 370Z's paint. It's a three part candy paint. Actually I do not know as of this morning if clear has been sprayed or not or if the second part of the three part was sprayed. I will get more photos later today. This photo was taken at 1:30 am!

Re: SR20DE Swap in Florida
This is the first post on my build over three years ago! Cracks me up how I thought I would be finished at any moment...Bigtaku wrote: Sat Jul 22, 2017 4:17 pm Hello everyone, I am getting close to having a completely rust free painted 68 Roadster! I know I have a bit to go but just getting to this point has been an amazing fun and expensive ride. I have the new SR20DE S14 already in with the engine mount gig form Michael Spreadbury. I have a terrifying movie of the car after sandblasting if anyone wants to feel good about there build.
It is now at Visual FX in Saint Augustine, FL. Great body shop if you live around here. The guy in the movie is my fabricator not me.
I will be adding lot of info on my build as it becomes my turn to get my hands on my new toy. So far its just been polishing and buying parts. I got the car for a Christmas present (2016) from my family to replace my other that I lost to a drunk driver. If only they knew how excessive compulsive I could be, I never would have got this present. I look forward to chatting with you all, and I would like to thank all of you that will be helping me ahead of time! Now I just need to figure out how to add photos...

Your car looks incredible. About your first post, I bet any of us who have done a full restoration can relate to your timeline comment!
