My leaking transmission, Swepco 201 to blame
My 5 speed was overhauled by a shop last summer. The leak is in the front, and I can see the Swepco 201 on the ground.
Should I swap the 201 for a different gear oil?
Thanks

Typically the Swepco is not known for causing leaks. Certainly you can change out the oil but if it's already leaking, it'll likely continue to do so.
If it's leaking that much after a rebuild, I'd think something faulty with the rebuild.

Not over filled ? Does it run out with the plug out ...if it does level. Let it drain out

Not much info, but it looks like perhaps you have already asked the shop and they told you that it is not their fault, and that it has to therefore be the Swepco?

Sweep of 201 is the transmission lube of choice on the Porsche forum I frequent and I have never heard anyone there saying it caused a leak.
If you don’t have definitive proof then you should add a question mark to your title.
I’m going to assume that you know it’s the transmission and not the rear engine seal due to the blue color.

Re: My leaking transmission, Swepco 201 to blame
Likely the imput shaft had a ring worn into the shaft from where the seal rubs ( yes the rubber. seal lip wears down the steel as the oil with tiny bit of rock , steel. etc.? fragments in the gear oil are lodged on the soft rubber)
Rebuilding. : a new shaft would be the way to go imput and cluster gear shaft . N/A
they try to place the seal lip back where its not in the groove
I would drain the fuild 5/8 " below the fill hole. See if it stops/ slows
Mitsubishi 3000 vr4 s are that way
Also the vent on the top needs to be open.

Re: My leaking transmission, Swepco 201 to blame
I replaced my transmission fluid with swepco last year and I noticed this week I am getting the same exact leak as previously described. I added some back in but it wasn’t much before it reached the fill hole. Mok662 did you ever find the source of the leak? I figure mine has the same issue.
