Small battery options
Sorry, but my battery tray is loose, I've seen peoples' cars with small batteries mounted right on the frame rail, and i want that. What are the current opinions, and what experience do you have? For 6 lbs or so, I don't want to relocate My battery. Any Pics? Thanks Pat

Re: Small battery options
When I put a smaller battery in my trunk, I think the weight of the cables negated the battery weight savings. I'm sticking to the story that I "redistributed" the weight.

Used this battery in both my now sold 68 2000 and my daughters 69 1600. No drama, works great, super light. And bought a generic battery hold down and it sits right on the body rail.

Re: Small battery options
I went with the XS D680. Just installed it, so it doesn’t have a driving season under it’s belt. It seems to have good starting power and in my quick runs around so far it’s charging back up without issue with my electric fan kicking on.

Stock starter? I also looked at the xp750, for starting amps. How much more for the cover? Thanks Pat

Yep, stock starter. The mounting box was an additional $49.

Just so no one will think I under killed the ground, on the other side of the ground cable bolt there is a ground cable going to the engine block.

I usually only drive mine at tractor speeds, so it's a good fit
