Re: Adjusting Camber
I used several layers of contractor's garbage bags cut in a square under the front wheels. This allows the wheels to turn side to side easily and settle properly when lowered down after adjustment.

Re: Adjusting Camber
I like putting it on floating pads that allow full movement. With the reflectors we get to see what it is really doing..

Re: Adjusting Camber
Yeah the bags will not give a correct reading.
1st thing to do is making sure its suspension is free
I was the alignment tech at my Datsun dealer
A lite car like the 311 is hard to get free enough to get a true reading .
The rack turntables at the dealer were worn and rusted , I tried sanding and greasing ( turntables has 1/2 "nylon balls in a ring. Then the plate is to slide out easily .
I told the manager we needed new or refurbished TTs
But they swapped them out for used . about what we had .
I built a alignment machine I use on my cars and it worked but tried on a Nieghbors Ranger and couldnt get it free enough to set right
Those are strange align heads Bear had rounded triangles on a triangle plate . ...all the trust is in the computer huh

Re: Adjusting Camber
This is at my friend's race shop. He builds racing Miatas.. It's set up for lightweight cars. The pads slide around pretty easy.
I trust the computer when it produces good results. This produces good results.

Re: Adjusting Camber
Drives straight with hands free, handles good, no abnormal tire wear - good enough for me.
