Newbie ish from the UK

Post by mickspl311 »

Hi Guys & Fairladies :) I have had the 66 for about 8 months and thought its about time to post some pics . The cars title showed that it was from Upland CA then went to europe . I have added new alloys (minilites) moved and replaced the mirrors to the door from the wing and removed the bumper overiders . The carbs were difficult to tune so replaced them with some 'English ' su's mgb type then had it rolling road tuned so it now runs perfect . The heater has been disconnected which is not great for our weather ! Replaced the front springs and renewed the front suspension bushes and steering idler all from Dean @datsun parts (great service !) I have not put back any badges after some paintwork and so it keeps most people guessing what it is as

so rare over here complimented with the small Italian style number plate.

wish I had known of you, was in england trying to hook up with roadster owners - to no avail - rare indeed in the land of mg and triumph. There are at least two roadster owners over there, plus a host of Dutch, a scandahoovian, german etc. Check the website for locals.
You have a rare car on the roads. I had a RHD Bentley over here, worked fine, but UK drivers seem to be MUCH more 'sociable' such that 'wrong' side wheels aren't such a problem.

Yes, not many roadsters here in the UK, probably in very low double figures. A new US import (1969) I know about, solid car, engine not running, so Mazda MX5 engine going in I became aware of a few weeks ago. Anyway, welcome.
1965 Nissan Silvia (CSP311) for total restoration
1978 260Z finally on the road (Rebello 3.2L)

I sold a 58 Vette last year that I owned for 10 years so LHD is no problem for me but my wife is not that keen sitting passenger side without a steering wheel !

Welcome! My wife and I have visited York twice and used it as a base to ride the rails and explore castles and churches... great fun! The train museum there rocks. We love the English, always so very nice and friendly to us. If we could figure out how to live or retire there we would in a heart beat! The most important thing we would bring would be our Datsun. We don't have a heater either, and i recently added some seat warmers that can really help on those chilly days. Your '66 looks great, and I bet it garners a fair amount of attention. It's really a beautiful car. If you ever get tired of the SUs, they make an intake manifold that will allow you to bolt on some Dellortos, Webers, Mikuni or the like. They are very tunable and make a great sound! My Dellorto supplier is in England and they have been a great resource for OEM and good aftermarket carb parts. Excited to have you in the Family! Now, can we come stay with you... ?

We spent the whole month of September in London. Wish I could have met up with you. Next time, I guess.
