Maybe it's just me, but I think something as well built and as beautiful as this piece is worth the price even if there are no power gains. Partial victory; Shannon's install now complete. He had to bend the tab slightly due to the thickness of the rubber grommet. But all in! Now if he can find that pesky wiring gremlin and get this running again!

We're waiting on the first operational test of these. Shannon had some other issues he's been working thru, but his engine is now running again. Hoping he can get everything going soon and give some driving impressions and dyno results.

Sorry for the delay. My SR20 car is just now coming out after a 2-year hibernation. I have made some significant changes which I'll detail in my thread in the next few weeks. As part of the changes, I replaced my old engine harness with an updated Wiring Specialties harness and could not get my car to start. After a couple of months of trying to find the problem (including sending the Haltech ECU back to Haltech to ensure it was working correctly), I finally was able to determine that the trigger wires in the CAM Angle Sensor connector were swapped. Once fixed, it fired up. I still have a number of issues to resolve but will be bringing the car to Solvang this year.

I might be able to produce a group buy of 5 of these for interested drivers, but you'll have to be hard-core to want. As I said in an earlier post, Shannon suggests it was an absolute PIA to install, it does require some trimming on the frame overlap, and it will be pricey--probably around $1500. Depending on interest, I'll have to go get quotes on all the materials and make sure that Crummy Welding is still good to do the finish welding. My timeline would be to do in Dec/Jan, so you would be able to have by early Feb if life doesn't get out of control. PM me if you want to know more details. I'm thinking of hosting an online zoom call in the shop with any interested buyers to walk thru details--Pro's/Cons. What does your SR20DE Datsun want for Christmas?

I saw and drove Shannon’s car this weekend and can attest to the quality and beauty of this header. I can’t speak to the performance since this was the first SR20 I’ve driven. I will say that Shannon’s car is a rocket and I was surprised at how much harder it pulled than my Solex car. The welds on the header are above first class!

Ok. Since Mike "let the cat out of the bag", I'll admit I had the car dyno tuned right before the lggpr in Garnett KS event. I'm pleased with the improved drivability and better hp and tq numbers. I promise to update my build thread and dyno threads.

Time for me to weigh in a bit on this header. 1) Performance: My recent dyno showed about a 10hp and 10 lbf gain with the header (171HP AND 150 lbf). Differences from my last dyno include using a different dyno (one at 6000 ft and the other close to sea level), increased injector size from stock 270cc to 555cc (larger injectors for tuning with E85), and fixing some fuel and timing maps from previous tuner. IMPORTANT This dyno test is on the Autech engine. Results on a "NORMAL" S13/14/15 MAY not have similar improvements. 2) Installation: The installation was very challenging. I scratched up the Jet Hot coating getting it in, I had to cut of the 1/2" "lip" of the frame and heat and pound the frame near the number 1 cylinder to get it in. I'm in the process of pulling the engine due to the appearance of burning oil at high rpms so this gives me an opportunity to see if the removal and installation can be better. I've pulled roadster engines over 10 times and can usually get it done in an afternoon. The SR engines ive done take longer due to the wiring harness, air conditioning, custom radiator, etc but still about a day. I fought with this one and quit last night. My observation is that the engine CANNOT be pulled with the header in place. I'm planning to remove the exhaust studs to allow me to leave the header in place. The header hits the motor mount (using the Spriso locations) . I think Kevin D sets his SR swaps a bit further forward but I doubt it would give enough clearance (RC Mike can correct me if I'm wrong about that). In conclusion, I love what the header did for me and the sound is fantastic but potential buyers need to be aware and don't blame Jeff if you end up cursing at the header during the install. I'll update when I get the engine out.
