’64 Roadster Rebuild SPL310-02570C, aka, The Lump.
I had not seen this members garage page before. Signed up a few years ago and have been working on my car off and on. Mostly off, on when money allows, you all know how it goes. I have posted a couple of pictures in the "What did you do to or for your roadster" page but I have a lot of pictures of my rebuild.
I am ready to put the engine and trans in and finish up the wiring. I would like to get the engine running before fall, work on the interior during the winter. Also, need to finish my deck and painting my garage before fall.

I got the grand kids to call it the lump until it moves under its own power. Then I will name it "Consuelo" for the original owner in Mission Beach Socal.

James, great sarcasm. Initial cost was very, very low. I have most all the parts and I knew going into this project I would be rebuilding everything.
Its had a rough life after coming to Washington in '79. Two previous release of interest statements, I have the documents. A field car until it overheated. The person I bought it from had it for a father/son project, in about '82, that went nowhere. It had never been licensed in Wa until I got it. I have had it for about 4 1/2 years, but actual time spent on it is only a few weeks and I am close to getting it running.
Older picture of the engine, I put more money into it than I wanted. It had been bored .30 over. I checked everything for tolerance and it is within spec. Even weighed the piston and rod assemblies. Had to put a new rocker assembly and cam in. It is ready to go in, I need to fire it up. Trans is ready, fixed the reverse switch, powder coated wheels, new tires. A friend welded up the exhaust. The po's managed not to molest the wiring and it is still in good shape. Rust is what is pictured, floor and battery box are tight, no rust through. I do have all the trim.

Cleaned the rubber, stuffed the inside with paper and coated it with some Flex-Seal spray on some tired rubber boots. This is the dimmer switch boot. Still needs some work. I will spray it after I install it.

Pat, super, I am just about finished with my deck and painting my garage. I hope to fire up the engine in Sept. and have a bbq. It may not be driveable, still a couple of things to do. Need to replace the pinion seal, get drive line checked.
I have a couple more couch pillows for the passenger seat.

I was being serious. For a survivor you just don't see '64 cars that look like that. Great candidate for restoration keep up the good work.

There is no way I can bring it back to all original. I have been able to rebuild a lot of the original parts.
As near as I can tell, the person I bought it from had started to remove parts for the father/son project. When that did not happen it was covered in plastic tarp and put in a barn. It stayed there from about the mid '80's til I bought it in '14. Yes, I found a petrified mouse in the drivers seat. It will be interesting to see what comes out of the tailpipe when I fire it up.

When I got the car the third seat was missing, the owner stated that they had all the parts, (never believe the owner when they say have all the parts). The good news is, I got the third seat from Arizona. The bad news is, there is one less 310. No petrified mice found.
