Keith:
That is crazy! It is also one of the better modified hoods I've seen. Not too over the top, and symmetrical.
"When all else fails, force prevails!" Ummm, we're gonna need a bigger hammer here.

I think it's a modified early trans am firebird scoop. Daves got mad fab skills and vision. Check out the windshield. He shortened the frame and set the window with sealer and eliminated the rubber gasket and chrome molding. Lots of little touches. On top of all that he's a great guy! He has a 67 camaro
That's beautiful. I'll post some pics. He works on a lot of muscle cars, old hot rods and late model car wreaks. When he did my car he loved the body lines. Found one he could work with and the rest is history.

Totally agree. Certainly not a typical "all you need is a big hammer and a cutting torch" Chevy install
Serious effort there-very nice work!

Well, looks as if we are all in support of this project and the way Hot Rod Dave is going about it. Estimated 550 hp with an occasional shot of nitrous to be used in competition obviously requires a ground-up build for a roadster and a custom frame. As CK says, “It’s definitely a straight line car.” Trying to draw broad conclusions from a one-off, purpose built machine such as this gets some of us into areas of disagreement that hopefully we can avoid on this build.

CK, please make Dave aware of the unqualified support and following he has generated here on 311s, and one last thing: God bless Texas and our “safety inspection not required” antique plate registration!

WOW! Great build. +1 on subscribing to this. I really like how "clean" it all looks too. Not overly flashy/dramatic but enough to still stand out from others. Great job and attention to details

I hope not, but Im betting he does

I pointed out in a post about a 914 porsche here, that a 311 track car tube frame would be cool

Kinda reminds me of the pinto/vega funny cars, tube chassis etc...wonder if it gets a street parachute? Would be fun to deploy a parachute coming into the Dairy Queen

He does have a double chute and a wheelie bar on the shelf but I think it's going to stay there. It really is a thing of beauty. It's been fun watching it come together.
