Just got my car going and drove it for the first time yesterday. It was given to me as a roller, with a KA24 engine and matching transmission. Not being to keen on that combo, I sold it and swapped in a 302 and T5 that was sitting around in my shop. Took me a couple of years off/on work to get it to this point. Lots more to do yet.
Edit:
There are more pictures in my album, but these are the only ones I'm able to get working in this post. Sorry

When I got my car last summer, I was kinda hoping the engine was shot so I could do the exact same thing, 302 and 5 spd. You should do some kind of write up on this, I would be interested on what needed to be done to make it fit.

69 Mach 1 393 Stroker 5 spd

@ bossbob - Sure. There are lots of ways to do it, but I did mine with minimum modifications to the body/chassis. Most internet pics I've seen with this swap use custom frames and set-back firewalls. Mine has the stock firewall and frame. There are clearance modifications of course, but it all fit better than I thought it would. I will say that doing it this way sets the engine further forward than the others. This may be a drawback if you plan to race on a road course. My background is primarily drag racing and I think I can get it set up to drive quite good on the street and still run 11's.
@ 2mAn - It does both of those pretty well! It needs a lot of front suspension and brake attention too, so it's a white knuckle driver atm.
It is a good idea, and I feel that I must be missing something basic here, but I am unable to find a "how to" section in this forum for posting images, video etc. Does this site host video, or will I need to host it somewhere else and link? Are there maximum image sizes (height and with as well as data size)? What formats are supported? Thanks!
