Subject: Deleting the fan. Other than shorter bolts to replace the space taken up by the spacer and fan itself, is there anything else I need to worry about? Champion Radiator is on the way and I plan to wire up an electric fan.
Seems simple, just want to make sure Im not overlooking anything
Nope. I used hex key button head capscrews to hold the pulley on. Easy to trim off an Allen head key to fit if space is really tkight.. you can start a screw, put the Allen key in a d turn the waterphmp pulley to thread it in.

Pete, thanks for the detailed response! My current gear is a 19 tooth, and I purchased a 20... way too big in diameter. Given that my speedo jumps at least 10mph on each bump, I'll probably just reinstall the old gear and remember that it reads about 8mph faster than it is per my GPS speedo on my phone. When the officer asks me " Do you know how fast you were going?" I'll be able to truthfully say "Ah, no." My plan will be to have my wife call out GPS speed while I observe what the speedo is saying until my brain has adjusted! I have a 3.9 RX7 LSD and 205/50/15 tires/wheels.
It has been my experience that I only look at speedometers when I think I'm going too fast so, for me, the best strategy is to slow down if I feel the need to check.

Starting the reassembly process on my motor, and was wondering about the two chains.
Does the jackshaft chain need to be in some sort of alignment with the cylinder position?
I believe the jackshaft simply spins the fuel pump, oil pump and turns the distributor so I would think it doesn’t matter, but wanted to ask before I start buttoning it all up

If you don't have this book. I highly suggest you get it in paperback from DatsunParts or ebook on Amazon. Book Two is the only one needed for servicing but they all have some value. https://www.datsunparts.com/2458
Everything matters, especially if you are troubleshooting later in life...Per Scott Scheeler's book... Place the camshaft sprocket and rear jackshaft sprocket into the
upper timing chain. Align the dimples in the face of the gears with the shiny
links in the chain. With the jackshaft sprocket at the bottom the shiny links
should be on the carburetor side of the engine. There should be 38 chain
links between the timing marks (shiny links). If you did not buy NISSAN
chains you probably will not have any shiny links. Unfortunately for you, in
this case, you are on your own. You will have to carefully count the chain
links. When this step is completed the sprockets are in the “ASSEMBLYâ€
position. The camshaft sprocket timing mark should be at the 3 o’clock
position and the jackshaft sprocket timing mark should be at approximately
the 5 o’clock position. The camshaft sprocket dowel hole should be at the 12
o’clock position with the two camshaft bolt holes horizontal. ___

Or follow the Datsun Roadster Service Manual - good luck with that

It's hard to tell but I'd side with Premo. At least double check. I drew lines on the known good and your set up. It's worth double checking or just removing gears and doing over again. *** Yours

As I learned not long ago there is a difference between the SAE and metric cam and cam gear. Be sure you don't have a mix as it will be half a tooth off.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.
Good eyes there! You're a tooth off on the cam chain per the manual image. The cam's timing mark should be in the middle of a link. Note the difference in the pics. Can't be seen in the pics with the lines, just in your original.
Is there a metric and an SAE gear for a U20? Thought that was R engine only.
