So I bought a recurve kits and found some differences causing me questions. 1st is the breaker plate; the new one doesn't have the adjustment cam on it for adjusting the point gap. I am using a pertronix that doesn't seem to be able to be adjusted anyway so no problem unless I have to go back to the points for some reason.
2nd is the length of the slot in the new cam. The long slot in the new cam is only about 2/3rds the length of the old one. Not sure if this could possibly cause problems or not. I am hoping some of you more smarter than me gurus can tell me if all is OK or not.
The old weights and springs were pretty much worn out and the breaker plate was pretty clunky when it moved is the reason I decided to replace everything. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Re: Dist. recurve questions
I kept messing with this cam trying to get it strait in my mind and realized with the new cam( the one on the right above) the weight gets stopped just about the point where it starts putting pressure on the spring so it will not move further thus reducing the total advance. I reinstalled the old one and will make contact with the selling party to see if we can come to an agreement.

Re: Dist. recurve questions
I would use the "old cam" on the left.
Did you get the correct springs?

Re: Dist. recurve questions
Very confusing since both are stamped 7.5. One could have been modified.

Re: Dist. recurve questions
Greg you are right it is confusing. The old one doesn't show any signs of modification but the slots do look much squarer than on the new one. I did put it together with the old cam and dropped it back in the car and it fired better than it ever has. I still need to get out the timing light but the difference was profound.
I was looking at the Rallye web site for their recurve and the cam they show a picture of looks the same and it is listed for a u20. Is there a difference between a r16 and U20 distributor cam? The info I got said the kit I bought could be used on the R16 with just a change to the vacuum advance line. It had a slip on connection instead of the screw on, which I didn't use since I had a brand new correct one.
