So, the car has been blasted and ready for bodywork! I was a little concerned before starting, but aside from a few small holes, looks like I’m in pretty good shape!

Also, quick plug for “Holmes customs” in Greensboro! Tons of fab work, body work and metal prep!

Good to know Cole. Why did you choose them, and would you send them another?
You can PM me if you prefer!

I missed this. You know as well as I, that finding a rust repair shop is tough. I try to do as much body repair as I can, but my job and family seem to say otherwise!

Hugh has a small shop in eastern Greensboro and ultimately seems to enjoy fab work the most. He also paints quite a few motorcycles with ridiculously fancy graphics. Since this car had uncommon graphics (that I wanted to duplicate) and he’s awesome at fabrication, he seemed the logical choice.

So far, I’m quite satisfied with everything he’s done. The only downside is the location. He has a fairly long dirt driveway that requires 4wd to access (hence the reason mine is always on a ragged trailer in pics!).

I may need to find another machine shop, though. I bug Kevin all the time and he always says “come by next week, I’ll have it ready!” It’s never ready. But, as you know, he does outstanding work!

Oh, and I definitely will use Hugh again. I have a 72z that needs attention and also bought Steve shores old 67.5 streetcar.

Cole:
I hear you on Kevin, it got so bad at one point on my H20 rebuild that I would "drop by the shop" every other day to "just see how things were going".
He got tired of seeing me and pretty quickly everything came together. I completely trust him and as you stated, his work is outstanding, and I even think reasonable in price as well.

Make sure to restore the original rims and use them heedlessly in active competition. Safety is for WIMPS! 🏁💥😵

Those wheels/tires are matched perfect, and staggered special!
-Harry Hogge-

I hear ya. These won't make the cut in the resto, unfortunately... I'm just going to leave them as/is and set aside in the garage as a conversation piece. I have a couple different options for 7" wide wheels already set aside; I'll probably grab a set of <gulp> panasports also (because everyone runs panasports!).

Was reading this and laughed about this.

When we were trying to fix the exhaust for the McDowell car, and we had 3 hours on a Saturday to get it done, they had this sign in the shop...
