Had a little brain fart about putting the transmission in gear, not necessary, jut leave in neutral. Edited O.P. and corrected. Sorry!

Here’s a pic of the Solex carbs on the 68 2000. The heater was not in use so plugged at water tube. The carb name plate has a different script than my other car’s 44’s. Are these the old 40’s? It looks like the velocity stacks were removed from an original air breather and fitted to the carb’s intakes. Thoughts?

This is not always true. I don't use the Bellevue spring plates in my posi so I can coast through a corner unlocked to reduce wear on the plates, It is more aggressive when it locks, less power needs to be applied. Mine is unlocked just sitting and the wheels will spin in opposite directions with the driveshaft held.

Expect them to need everything. They look pretty crusty. I don't think that car was a serious race car though.

Yea, those are crusty. The missing T for the front of the water pipe is going to be about $100, the buyer could use the rear water fitting from his SU's, as they are the same. The velocity stacks look like the short ones that will work well inside a filter. Although the stacks look bad they could be cleaned up and painted since they wouldn't be seen. All the nuts, bolts screws, springs, and brackets need to be replated. The big issue on rebuilding the carbs would be if the throttle shafts need to be replaced. Just a guess, but I think it would take about $1000 to bring everything up to snuff. Don't forget to include the heat shield, as it is unique to the Solex's and a little pricey! As they sit I would value them between $1000 and $1500.

Well I am probably going to just part the car out so if you guys know anyone looking for a set of solex’s and Manifolds from me a pm. I also have the 2000 engine 5 speed and other parts I will post in the classified section with pics when I can. I need to check to see if it’s a limited slip rear ended this weekend. Thanks Rick

If you are wanting to sell, I believe that forum rules require a price

Not sure why everyone is commanding such a premium for solexes these days. Over the last two years, I’ve bought two complete setups for $1200 (running and ready to go), with tons of extras (multiple pair of velocity stacks, parts and rebuild kits). These are rough at best and need everything. My guess is they’d bid up close to $1,000 on eBay.

What’s your history on these specific carbs?
