I had sold my AP2 Honda s2000 a few months ago and really missed it and was late night browsing for a cheap parts car for my 93 300zx with 29k miles when I saw a Datsun roadster up for auction. It was listed with no reserve. But I figured there is no way I can win that auction for that price.
I have issues with picking up cheap but running projects...93 300zx TT, 3000gt VR4...anyway, I end up winning that auction and had it shipped aight unseen. Luckily, the owner was a pretty honest enthusiast and described the condition of the car well. It took 2 weeks for the car to arrive from Oregon to PA...
The previous owner had bolted some plastic seats with vinyl cover straight to the floor and for whatever reason, I couldn’t adjust it to fit me. I’m short, 5,5â€... anyway, drove it around the area that day and it was even more joyful than my s2000! The noise, steering feel and the rawness of the roadster just was an exhilarating experience. And I thought it couldn’t get anymore raw than my old s2000. Different beasts I know. Carb noise was almost as cool as the vtech kicking in. Braking was a bit scary at first since I’ve never been in a car with manual brakes. Weird experience. I thought I didn’t have brakes at first and had to text the previous owner to confirm. Lol.
Anyway, I get some serious looks from everyone passing by. Teenage kids just stopping and wondering etc. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in this part of PA(south central).
I’m planning to finish the restomod on the car either locally or if my jdmlegends application gets picked up, with them! As is, it’s a fun driver but needs some TLC for sure. Photos to come soon as I figure out my photobucket link!

Welcome! Looks like a decent start.
There are several of us who have Roadsters and 300zx's here so you're in good company and have found the right place for Datsun Roadsters.
I agree, the manual feel of the Roadster is a lot of fun. Hard to drive it anywhere without smiling.

Re: Nissan Z fan with a new roadster
congrats!
I have 3 Z32 300ZX... two '90 twin turbos and a '93 convertible (also twin turbo)
I do all my own wrenching and switching from the 300 to the roadster is a time warp... way easier to access parts but still can be challenging (transmission access through the x frame is fun)
Roadsters are rare in my area as well... get way more looks and thumbs up than in any of my Z cars.
Cheers.

Re: Nissan Z fan with a new roadster
Thanks for the welcome guys! This forum is really full of awesome info. I do still have the 3000gt vr4 and 93 300zx TT. VR4 was resurrected from near death. People are trashing these cars and running them to the ground sadly...all the roadsters for sale in the east coast seem to be non running rust buckets and most still seem to demand a few thousand for basically a questionable parts car if that.
Thanks again for the welcome. It’s probably the warmest internet welcome I’ve had in recent memory...

Welcome, as we say, to "The Addiction." Good looking ride, U20 powered (?), etc, what's not to like!? I've had a few S2000 owners want to swap... There's just something about a Roadster. Tell us more as you explore the car, and we'll all enjoy the ride!
