Re: ACOTE's 68 2000
I would say 1 gallon mixed would be safe(maybe someone who knows more than I would be bettter). I bought 3/4 gal but didn't know it'd be 1:1 mix so I had 1.5gals of yellow. I still need to do doors, hood and trunk lid though. I didn't want to run out of color as another mix could be slightly different. Need more clear, but I don't remember how much I started with. It's also been nice to have extra to practice/redo areas as I'm new. Have used about half of my yellow, but I resprayed the back half.

New H4 headlights are in, Just threw some old bulbs in there to make sure they work. Any suggestions on bulb type?
New compared to old:

These still have a nice curve to them

Lights! Had to clean the ground. Now it's working again!

Where did you purchase the new H4 headlights and what was the part number?

I can't get the link to show in post but these are listed as Cibie on amazon "Cibie 82440 Light Unit"
I bought them mainly for the curved lens look as most were pretty flat. H4 headlights fit the socket but might need to swap the high and low beam pin on the connector.
Easiest way is to get some sunglasses and see which filament is lit up then swap if needed.

Re: ACOTE's 68 2000
Was planning on pushing the car into the driveway and painting the rest on break, but the owner is having the house painted and needed it clear. Still plenty to do!
So many Clamps!
This little trim piece is still solid just peeling away. All better now: (painted this area black also)

Trimmed and installed the side pillars. These are the hard plastic kind, one day I'd like to recover in vinyl.

weather stripping covers the gap on both sides, once I get there. The Tech Wiki said putting them under the windshield was best, looks like it'll work out nicely.

Dash Install is next

Re: ACOTE's 68 2000
shiny bits going on.

New dash is in! That is a very fiddly job... but worth it!(needs a good wipe down now.)

Threw a couple LED's in where they fit. Looks pretty stock in person, just brighter. My phone has a pretty bad camera

Re: ACOTE's 68 2000
Looking real good Alex. Not sure I will be painting mine this year as I want to repair all of the cancer which means as of now the rear inner rocker on the passenger side needs to be removed, fabricated and replaced on the passenger side which means the outside rocker will get replaced as well. Then the crappy job that was done on the panel in front of the passenger side rear wheel well needs redone. Not to mention the issues on the drivers side. The domino effect will definitely be in effect plus I will be learning metal panel fabrication in the process. I intend to do it right.
Blink always looks good. Your dash came out very nice as well. Your car looks awesome.

Re: ACOTE's 68 2000
Thanks everyone. The dash was something I saved up for before planning on fixing the car up, feels really good to have it in. Can't wait to have it all together! Time to put the windshield and gas tank back in then roll it out to paint the rest next weekend (darn that rain)
international Datsun roadster meeting 8-9 June Monschau, Germany. https://www.facebook.com/groups/465826613492937/
It's only 2.5 hrs from Ramstein were I'm PCS'ing late March, so time is on to finish the car! I wish I made it to more shows in California, but I've definitely made a bunch of friends here. Maybe I'll be back in a few years after. Never know. But I'm holding on to this Datsun and will always be driving it wherever I can!
I wish, I do plan on bringing it to a datsun roadster meet in June 8th in Germany!

Re: ACOTE's 68 2000
I know! Scary but I'm excited. Really good motivation, I have some time off soon to finish it up.
Forgot to connect the clock in the dash so pulled the dash back and got it. Dash contacts the lower corners so I'll leave it back a bit and bolt it in after the windshield. Might pick up some allen key bolts for it. Trying to find all the small pieces I bought a while ago...

Re: ACOTE's 68 2000
Trying to stay busy. Got all 4 speakers and Sub working! sounds awesome!
This video is just the front speakers and tweeters, trying to show how tucked under the boxes are.
All the speakers are 5.25 I bought this box as it's the only one I could find that small.
https://www.ebay.com/i/321217737234?chn=ps
But even this was way too big! I suck at cutting wood so I didn't take a picture. I cut them shorter and into a triangle to fit, then boxed it up with new MDF board.
I need to scrape the ugly stuck foam off of this area.

Drivers side was a real challenge because of the flasher cans, hood release(still slacked but it has room), and the clutch spring. but got it pretty good!

Back speakers fit without cutting the holes bigger. Used a foam enclosure as I wasn't sure how having the huge open area would sound

and the small powered sub box

Sounds really good! I have a very small amp powering it and it is loud
Now to try and organize this mess!
